Berufserfahrung im Ausland wird sehr geschätzt und ist ein Vorteil bei der Bewerbung, das bestätigt Nettel: „Die Arbeitgeber wissen, dass Leute, die im Ausland waren, über Fähigkeiten verfügen, die gerade im Berufsleben wichtig sind: Sie sind gut organisiert, arbeiten selbstständig, schätzen Herausforderungen und besitzen die Gabe, sich sehr schnell neuen Gegebenheiten anzupassen.“
Vor allem Studierende sollten die Chance nützen und ins Ausland gehen. „Nie mehr wieder ist man so ungebunden und kann einfach für einige Monate in ein fremdes Land gehen. Außerdem lernt man den Hochschulbetrieb und das Know-How eines anderen Landes kennen, das ist sehr wertvoll. Man erhält meist sowohl von der Heimat- als auch von der Gastuniversität Unterstützung bei der Organisation, was bei späteren Auslandpraktika nicht der Fall ist“, sagt Nettel. Das bestätigt Wiegele: „Die Universitäten und Fachochschulen bieten dazu eigene Europäische Programme und Kooperationen an (Internationales Büro der Uni/FH kontaktieren), die bereits während des Studiums wahrgenommen werden können. An der Universität Klagenfurt gibt es außerdem ein Programm für Graduierte, wo über Leonardo da Vinci eine Grundfinanzierung stattfindet und Abolventen bis zu sechs Monate im Ausland ein Praktikum absolvieren können. Weiters sollten Interessierte die EURES-Berater am AMS fragen und gezielt bei österreichischen Unternehmen mit Niederlassungen in anderen Ländern anfragen.“ Und um sich so richtig in der Fremde einzuleben, empfiehlt Nettel alleine ins Ausland zu gehen und während des Aufenthalts nicht nach Hause fahren. Denn „wer einmal im Ausland gelebt hat, den treibt es früher oder später immer wieder in die Ferne. Momentan bin ich aber sehr glücklich in Österreich angekommen zu sein“, so Nettel. Erst wenn man lange von zuhause weg war, lernt man die Heimat richtig schätzen.

Heute ist die Klosterruine Arnoldstein vor allem durch ihr kulturelles Zutun geprägt und auch in aller Munde.
